Therapy and approach

What to expect and how I work with you

How therapy with me works

Therapy offers a confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a way that leads to real, sustainable change.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. My aim is to make that process feel as calm, clear and supportive as possible.

Our work together starts by understanding what you’d like support with – and what goals, if any, feel important to focus on.

Some clients come to therapy with a specific issue they want to work through, while others feel generally overwhelmed, low or stuck. Wherever you’re starting from, we’ll go at your pace.

My approach

I’m an accredited integrative therapist, which means I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches to tailor the work to you and your needs.

These include:

  • cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) – identifying and shifting unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours
  • eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) – a technique that helps process trauma and distressing experiences
  • hypnotherapy – supporting change through deep relaxation and suggestion
  • psychodynamic and humanistic therapy – exploring the roots of emotional patterns and building self-understanding
  • parts work, Gestalt and creative approaches – helping you engage with different aspects of yourself
  • solution-focused therapy – identifying strengths and practical steps forward

“I wish I had discovered CBT earlier, it has been a great help to me. Through seeing Christie and going through the ABCs of CBT I now have a direction in my life and don’t procrastinate anymore. Thank you.” – SG, former client

I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.

“I was stuck in my depression because of an abusive relationship, but with Christie’s CBT techniques I have overcome the PTSD I was experiencing and feel a lot better. I was stuck in my negative thinking which was a pattern of mine but with Christie I found a safe space to look at my thoughts and behaviours and change them. I feel renewed!” – AS, former client
